PressRelease: Top e-Commerce Advocate DigitalFilipino Lauds Freelancer.com as Leading Job Marketplace in 2014 WebAwards

Work is no longer a place where we stay for 8 hours from 8am to 5pm. Work is a time when we are productive regardless of the place and time. With the internet, common Filipinos like us are given equal opportunity to work with international clients. And what is good about it is, we can do it at our own time if we wish to.

Freelancer.com has provided Filipino freelancers the platform to showcase our skills and services, and to make online jobs accessible to everyone.

Just this March, Freelancer.com received an award in the DigitalFilipino WebAwards. Read the Press Release below.

SYNDEY, March 7, 2014: Coinciding with the celebration of the 20th year of the internet in the Philippines, Freelancer.com was applauded for its efforts of empowering Filipino professionals, during the DigitalFilipino WebAwards 2014.

In the awards ceremony held on March 5, 2014, at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business Amphitheater, Rockwell Drive, Makati City, Freelancer.com won the Specialist Marketplace (Emerging) Category. To take out this award, Freelancer beat its competitors in technical performance, search engine competitiveness, web traffic stickiness, and social media engagement.

Freelancer.com’s Regional Director for Continental Asia Jorge Azurin and Regional Director for Southeast Asia Evan Tan received the award handed by Janette Toral, an early internet advocate in the Philippines who took part in lobbying for the Philippine e-Commerce Law, passed in 2000.
The DigitalFilipino WebAwards were started in 2007 with the aim of introducing new websites to its community and allowing them to learn collectively from best practices. It is also an experiment in terms of measuring brand influence and reach through third party data sources.

Toral explains, “The awarding body recognizes the changes with the way websites are being perceived now and how they’re valued. As Filipinos, primary Internet activity today is to search and interact through social networks, high quality websites filled with relevant content, and its attractiveness for social media sharing influences, which websites matter more than the rest.”

With over 10 million users in 243 countries and more than 400,000 Filipinos working through the platform, Freelancer.com continues to make an impact around the world as the most dynamic and active freelancing marketplace for startups, businesses, and entrepreneurs.

“We are grateful that DigitalFilipino has recognized our active effort to empower more Filipino professionals. This further inspires us at Freelancer.com to be the trusted partner of millions of Filipinos who dream of establishing their career online. Freelancer.com is honored to be the preferred online jobs marketplace providing real, secure, and diverse work opportunities to world-class Filipino talent,” Tan ends.
